| Bio: | Character's name: Doumeki Haruka Character's age: Unknown Character's gender: Male Series the character is from: xxxHOLiC Brief background: Haruka is Doumeki Shizuka's grandfather and was a Shinto priest at the shrine where Doumeki lives in xxxHOLiC. He died a while ago, before the events of xxxHOLiC began, but is frequently referenced in stories told by his grandson, and in the knowledge and spritual artefacts he left behind. Based on what Doumeki says, he learnt most of his knowledge of folklore, mythology and shrine practice from his grandfather. He also possessed the ability to exorcise spirits in a similar manner to the one his grandson now uses. He has also had contact with Watanuki Kimihiro through his dreams after Watanuki obtained the Yumenai balloons, and acts as something of a guide, going as far as to save Watanuki from his own concious after the incident with Himawari at the school. He often forewarns of danger to Watanuki, such as when Kohane's mother threw hot water into Watanuki's eyes. A lot of Haruka's life is still a mystery, and he may have known more about the future than was previously thought - for example; the book he hid depicting how to restore a lost eye stolen by a spider, which was found at exactly the time it was needed most. Personality: Haruka and his grandson not only share similar looks, but also a similar sense of humour and stoic nature. However, Haruka is slightly more outgoing and cheerful than his grandson - he is more prone to smiling (as noted by Watanuki), and talks more without a catalyst for him to do so. He speaks of topics more frequently, such as revealing to Watanuki of Doumeki's ill health as a child, without being prompted to do so. He has a calm and collected nature, but knows when a situation is serious enough to merit some urgency. He also seems to allow himself to show more quiet amusement at certain things than his grandson would. Like Yuuko, he speaks in a somewhat enigmatic manner, not always revealing what he means in entirity. | |||||||||
